Cliffs of Moher

Cliffs of Moher
Cliffs of Moher (photo: Annemarie Latour)

I follow him up and down the Cliffs,
Flying in circles and spirals,
Down, down and up.

Behind the edge a solid frontier,
Steep rocks and salty foam:
No man’s land.

Then, for a sudden moment
We meet eye to eye,
a silent, lingering curiosity.

Staring, unable to grasp
The passing moment,
Unless I learn to fly.
